Go Here for a detailed account of Mariah's latest progress in challenging Whitney's record for the most consecutive No.1 singles.
Vibe Magazine reports that Xscape singer LaTocha has written a song for Whitney's next album.
Says LaTocha "I couldn't believe it when her people called."
Whitney was simply stunning, we got to see her accepting her award,
"My first Gospel Award", she just looked great and she seemed very calm and
collected, she was not jumpy.... I have not see her look soo well in search a long time,
and her perfomance was nothing short of stunning.
She was in a white skirt suit, and white evening gown while she performed, Again i cannot
stress that she seemed soo happy and confident, I am awaiting her release with eagerness,
i am would like to anticipate that something great is going to happen. The best to whitney
as she made my morning-day.
Wonderful World of Whitney is the latest Whitney Houston Website to be launched.
The site is run by Nikesh Patel and is only the second site to originate from the UK.
Welcome aboard Nikesh, and congratulations on a job well done.
Faith Evans hotly anticipated album "Keep The Faith" has now been put back to August. The album was originally scheduled for release last December, but (as we've come to expect!), the album has been put right back on the schedule.
In an interview with Billboard Magazine Faith says that the album is lyrically more inspirational, more Gospel. Co-producers and writers on this album include 112 and Kelly Price. She also confirmed she's been working with Tevin Campbell and LSG, and has completed a duet with Ray Charles for his new album.
No mention was made of the duet with Whitney Houston.
It seems Whitney's Web presence is increasing even more rapidly. Yohan has just launched his new Whitney Houston Site.
Another new Whitney Houston Website has been launched. Increasing Whitney's internet presence this time is Sebastian - his Whitney Houston Website can be found here.
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Whitney Houston will get back to her
gospel music roots this month with a performance at the Dove Awards ceremony. Houston said
she will sing "I Go to the Rock" -- a Dove nominee -- during the April 23 show,
to be broadcast live on The Nashville Network. The Dove Awards are the Christian music
industry's version of the Grammy Awards. Houston boycotted this year's Grammy Awards
because her movie soundtrack album "The Preacher's Wife" was nominated in the
rhythm and blues category instead of gospel. On Wednesday, she said she was honored to
receive a nomination from the gospel community. "I Go to the Rock," which is
from "The Preacher's Wife," is nominated for a Dove Award for best traditional
gospel recorded song.
John Tesh and Naomi Judd will host the Dove Awards ceremony.

Whitney's cousin, Dionne Warwick has started work on a new album and has confirmed that she is to record a duet with Whitney. This will be their second duet following "Love Will Find A Way".
Dionne recently left Arista, the record label that Whitney also records for. Dionne says of the departure "My contract ran out. And Clive Davis, who I've always held in the highest esteem as someone who really knows the record business, did what most of labels did - went into an area of music (youth oriented) that just was not Dionne Warick. It would be like putting on a dress that's too tight, deciding to wear it anyway, and then getting all the comments that you're going to get."
Dionne is now signed to River North Records. Her new album, which will feature re-makes of Dionne Warwick classics alongside new songs written by Babyface, Diane Warren and David Elliot (Dionne's son).
The two new German concert dates recently rumoured are not confirmed. A friend in Germany was kind enough to investigate further and it seems that no-one actually knows anything about these dates.
The only confirmed date for Whitney remains the UNIFEC benefit show on 11th July 1998 which I will attend (and am very much looking forward to!).
You can get some more information about the new Whitney Houston / Will Smith movie "Anything For You" on the MTV News - Whitney Site and the The Platinum Club News Site.
27 June 1998 is the date of the concert to celebrate the life of Diana, Princess Of Wales. The show is to be held at Deer Park in Althorp, England just a mile from where Princess Diana is buried.
At this point I do not know if Whitney will perform in the concert to 15,000 people but expect confirmation shortly as Whitney announces a range of live performances in Europe in support of her Greatest Hits Album due to be released shortly.
Whitney Houston may perform to 100,000 fans in London's Hyde Park on 5th July as part of the Party In The Park - a concert to benefit Prince Charles' Trust.
The concert is billed as the biggest musical event ever in London and is the biggest show for the Prince's Trust.
Details of the artists performing have not been announced as yet and Whitney is only rumoured to be one of the guests. Further details as I get them.
Tickets have gone on sale for the two concerts in halle/westfalen, in Germany.
The shows are entitled "Whitney Houston - Her Greatest Hits" and will be performed on 20 & 21 June 1998 at Halle/Westfalen, Germany, Weststraße, 33790 Halle. Ticket information can be obtained by calling 0049-231-1203333.
The announcement of these dates adds weight to my prediction that the Greatest Hits album will surface during April/May. Further dates have not been announced as yet.
This Article is from Mr Showbiz about the new Whitney Houston movie.
Fans of Will Smith and his new bride, Jada Pinkett, might have a hard time accepting his next possible on-screen matchup. The Hollywood trades report that the Men in Black phenom is attached to star in the romantic comedy Anything for You with Whitney Houston. Smith would play a man who dumps his girlfriend (Houston), only to realize eight months later that she's the one for him and he's made a big mistake. But in order to win her back, he must endure various tasks his former lover has devised. The script, written by Tom Flynn and purchased for a mid-six-figure price tag, was the subject of an intense bidding war among studios such as Touchstone, Paramount, and Columbia. No start date has been set.

Echoes Magazine (UK) reports that WH is to appear at the Jamaica Beachfest between April 10-13.
I can confirm that I will be attending concert in Aschaffenburg, Germany on 11 July 1998. The show appears to be very popular with many fans from around the world attempting to arrange a convention for Whitney fans to meet up in Germany.
At this stage I do not know if I will be at the convention or not as my travel plans arent confirmed. All I do know is that it'll be great to see Whitney perform after so long - it's now close to five years since I last saw her at Earls Court, London. The show - which benefits UNICEF - will be my seventh Whitney concert.
Manish.
The 1998 Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievements In The Field Of Entertainment was collected last night at the Soul Train Awards in LA. The award was presented to Whitney by Whoopi Goldberg and the presentation incorporated a short videography of Whitney's career to date. This was followed by a tribute performance by Monica, Ron Isley, Terry Ellis, and Kenny Lattimore who sang "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)", "I Believe In You and Me", "How Will I Know", and "You Give Good Love"
Congratulations Whitney!
What an experience - I got to see the US Grammy Awards for the first time in my life as the BBC undertook to air the awards late last night.
Whitney did not attend the awards and didn't collect an award - both categories being won by the very worthy Erykah Badu.
Once again, Arista have delayed the release of the new Faith Evans album "Keep The Faith" which is reported to include a duet with Whitney. The new release date is not confirmed but it is likely that the album will now be preceeded by a single.
Faith Evans new album "Keep The Faith" is due for UK release on 23rd February. The album has for some time been mooted to contain a duet with Whitney.
Whitney will receive the 1998 Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievements In The Field Of Entertainment at this year's Soul Train Awards to tape place 27th February 1998 at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium.
Congratulations Whitney!
Whitney will not be appearing at this year's Grammy's despite the two R&B nominations she has received. Whitney has said she was unhappy that her album "The Preacher's Wife" did not get nominated in any of the Gospel categories even though it is a Gospel album.
All appears to be well between Whitney and Rosie after Whitney's appearance on the Rosie show on 11th February. Whitney talked about the upcoming release of Cinderella on US home video.
I don't have any further information on this appearance so I don't know if a new project was mentioned or not. The show does not air in the UK.
Whitney will perform a one off open air show to 40,000 fans in Aschaffenburg, Germany entitled "The Very Best Of Whitney Houston". The show is not being billed as the start of a world tour but Greatest Hits album should have been released by July. Tickets for the show cost 75DM. Proceeds from the show on 11th July are to benefit UNICEF.
Arista Records have added some information to their great new look site. Not too much information has changed from the old site but at least this site is now up and running.
Also in there, you'll find a link to Rachel's Whitney Worship Webpage.
ATLANTA, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Musicians Kenneth ``Babyface'' Edmonds, Whitney Houston and Wynton Marsalis were among those honored at the sixth annual Trumpet Awards honoring black achievers. Retired Gen. Colin Powell received the Living Legend award at the ceremony sponsored by Turner Broadcasting System. Houston and Marsalis were given special honors.
``All of the awards and honors I receive are important to me,'' Houston said in accepting her ``Pinnacle'' award. ``The ones I treasure most are those which are a result of my contributions to the well-being of children.''
Trumpet Awards were given to Edmonds, baseball pitcher Don Newcombe, Ebony magazine executive editor Lerone Bennett, Jr., and nuclear engineer Margie Lewis, among others. A Family Spirit Award was presented to Deloris Jordan, the mother of Michael Jordan.
Edmonds credited his mother with instilling ``a spirit in me of not ever giving up'' as she raised six boys after the death of her husband. ``When I look at this Trumpet Award, I think we all are like instruments. We have notes that we want to play and notes that we want to sing and sometimes it takes a push from somebody else to make those notes come out,'' he said.
TBS said the awards are intended to honor blacks who, through consistency and longevity, have inspired others and achieved success in a chosen profession or career. The program at a hotel ballroom was hosted by Gladys Knight and Robert Guillaume.
Whitney Houston has received two nominations in this year's Grammy Awards.
Both nominations come in theR&B category for her work on the 1996 album "The Preacher's Wife":
- Best R&B Album "The Preacher's Wife"
- Best R&B Female Vocal Performance "I Believe In You And Me" (From
"The Preacher#s Wife") (Whitney Houston).
The top nomineee in this year's Grammys is Babyface once again after picking up a record 12 Nominations in 1997 for his work on Whitney Houston's "Waiting To Exhale" project, he now collects a further 8 nominations for 1998.
