[From Launch.com] Babyface Plans CD, Work With Whitney, TLC, Pink & Toni (6/22/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds keeps up a steady pace in the studio. Appearing Thursday (June 21) at the Recording Academy's 2001 Membership Luncheon, where he was honored with a Governor's Award for outstanding contributions to the music industry community, Edmonds was humbled by the acknowledgement. He received his award from presenter Jimmy "Jam" Harris. A Grammy winner as well as the recipient of several BMI songwriters awards. Edmonds told LAUNCH what the Recording Academy honor means to him. "I think the difference in this award it's more than just your craft, it's also you as an individual, it's things that you do for the community as well, it takes a little more than just your talent, so that's what makes this one different, I think," he said. Edmonds also shared with LAUNCH some of his upcoming projects. "My new record will come out in September, September 11. And then I'm going back into the studio with Whitney Houston, back in with TLC, going to do something with Pink, also do a Christmas record with Toni Braxton, so [I] got a lot of work to do." -- Janine Coveney, Los Angeles.
