BBC News: Houston's comeback tops US chart
Whitney Houston's comeback record has topped the Billboard album chart
with sales of 305,000 copies.
I Look To You, her first studio album since 2002, chalked up the biggest
week one sales of her career and the biggest of any female artist so far
this year. Its release sees Houston return to the public arena after a
prolonged period of personal and professional turmoil.
The singer visited London earlier this year to
preview her new tracks, which include the single Million Dollar Bill.
The album - which features collaborations with Alicia Keys and R Kelly - is
released in the UK on 19 October.
Houston recorded an interview with Oprah Winfrey this week that the US chat
show host called "the best interview I've ever done".
"I can't think of a moment
when I had a stronger connection to the person I was interviewing," the TV
star continued. The conversation - Houston's first full-length interview in
almost seven years - will be aired on Winfrey's programme next week.
