[From New York Post] Clive Plots Whitney Return May 14, 2004 -- CLIVE Davis is working on what could be his biggest feat yet: cleaning up Whitney Houston for her "comeback" next year. Music insiders are buzzing that Davis was the one who forced Houston into rehab last month - and when she attempted to leave after a day, made her re-enter the facility - and asked her to publicly distance herself from hubby Bobby Brown, especially during his court dates. It was also Davis who convinced Houston's longtime publicist, Nancy Seltzer, to return to the singer's fold after Seltzer quit in frustration last year. "Clive has a lot riding on Whitney's comeback," said a person familiar with the situation. "He made her. Her last album [with Davis nemesis and former Arista head L.A. Reid] flopped and he wants to show everyone he can do better." Meanwhile, Davis has told the newly sober songbird to stay out of the public eye until next year's Grammys. "Clive is planning on having Whitney - if she is still clean and sober and taking care of herself - be the surprise musical guest at his party next year." A rep for Davis swears there's been "no dialogue" between the mogul and Houston. Seltzer didn't return calls.
