MTV News: November 14 [7:55 EDT] -- Whitney Houston will sing at a mass wedding for followers of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon on November 29 in Washington, D.C. Moon's Unification Church has often been accused of being a cult, but Houston's spokespeople say the singer didn't know she'd be singing for the Reverend and his followers. Houston's people say the event was presented to her as "The World Culture and Sports Festival." They add that Houston is "prone to accepting invitations that are family oriented" and that she's being paid somewhere in the low seven figures for her appearance. Moon's people reportedly say every artist they book knows in advance exactly who's hiring them. NEWSFILE: 14 NOVEMBER 1997
