POP star Whitney Houston gave her strangest performance - when she arrived in court to support husband Bobby Brown.

Whitney left officials stunned as she prayed and muttered, held her head in her hands and then chatted on her mobile phone.

Clearly upset, she mouthed "I'm sorry" after being told to turn it off.

Earlier Whitney, 40, had kissed Brown and told him to "stay strong".

Singer Brown was arrested last week for failure to attend Alcohol Anonymous meetings and report to his probation officer after a drink-driving offence.

But neither Whitney's prayers or Brown's sad look as he turned up in prison garb at De Kalb County Court in Atlanta had much effect on Judge Wayne Purdom.

Brown got another nine days jail with 60 days house arrest.

It also emerged that Whitney was nearly arrested for screaming at police who collared Brown during a romantic dinner. Sgt Chris Lagerbloom said: "She yelled and pointed."
