ATLANTA (Reuters) - Entertainer Bobby
Brown on Friday was sentenced to 60 days in a Georgia jail for violating
probation related to a drunken driving case, court officials said.
Brown, the husband of singer and
actress Whitney Houston, was sentenced to jail for several probation
violations including failure to take drug tests and pay fees, according to
the clerk's office at DeKalb County State Court.
Brown, who has a history of run-ins with the law dating back to his youth in
Boston, will get credit for seven days he had served in jail before Friday's
hearing. The singer had been held without bond in jail since last week.
In December, Brown was charged with battery after a domestic dispute with
Houston, in which police said she suffered facial injuries that included a
bruise on her left cheek. He is scheduled to appear in court in May on that
misdemeanor charge.
Brown's hit songs include "My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step."
