Reaction To Bobby Brown's Arrest
POSTED: 6:44 p.m. EDT August 23, 2003
Apharetta -- Customers of an Alpharetta
restaurant say they were surprised to find singer and wanted man Bobby Brown
dining with them.
Managers at the Atlantic Seafood restaurant on Mansell Road say they
recognized Bobby Brown and his wife Whitney Houston right away. But they
didn't realize Brown was in trouble with the law again, until officers came
to interrupt their late night dinner.
The restaurant's manager said they don't make a big scene when stars come
in. Workers say the famous couple were eating dinner, when they were
interrupted by Alpharetta police. Brown apparently got up and went out
peacefully. Managers say the officers escorted the singer out of the
restaurant, handcuffed him and put him in a patrol car.
Last month, a warrant went out for his arrest for violating his parole.
In January, Brown was sentenced to eight days in jail and ordered not to
drive for a year after pleading guilty to a 1996 drunk driving charge in
DeKalb County. He was also ordered to perform community service and attend
counseling. In November, the 33-year-old singer was arrested in Atlanta on
charges of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, speeding and having
no driver's license or proof of insurance.
Restaurant managers say Whitney Houston drove off by herself.
At last check, Brown was still in the DeKalb County jail. Investigators have
not said how he violated his parole.
