Hakim hoping to cut a deal with Whitney Houston
The music industry recently witnessed the launching of a
new duet, written by Hisham Abdul Rahim and composed by Mohammad Siraj, by
Egyptian singer Hakim and American singer James Brown that blends Western
and Eastern styles in one. At the same time, Hakim is in the process of
preparing for his first acting experience in the film “Ali Spicy”, which is
a comedy drama. The singer will begin shooting the scenes in the very near
future alongside Egyptian actress Sumaya Al Khashab.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Hakim announced that
he is also busy these days trying to cut deals with a number of
international female singers to sing duets with. The singer revealed that he
is hoping to reach an agreement with American pop star Whitney Houston for
his upcoming duet, which he already began preparing for.
After countless negotiations, Hakim had finally struck a deal with Brown and
the two agreed on singing the duet under the title “Al Lail” (Night), which
has finally been recorded and released in his latest album. The song had
been filmed in the form of a video clip in Georgia in the US. The story of
the clip is simple and revolves around two old friends playing chess and
then they start to play soccer, then ends with a live concert that the two
singers take part in.
The Egyptian Censorship Committee has finally given permission for the
release Hakim’s latest album, after previously deciding to ban it. The
committee had banned the release of Hakim’s album in the market, only one
day after its launch, after receiving a complaint filed by a poet against
Hakim over one of the songs in the album.
It was revealed that Hakim had placed his name on one of the song claiming
he wrote it, when in fact he had previously bought it from its original
creator Ahmad Abu Joudeh. Hakim was given permission to release the album
after he admitted that the song belongs to Ahmad and gave him copyright over
the song. The singer had feared that if he did not admit to not writing the
song, his album may never find approval to be released in stores.
The album “Al Youmain Dool” (These Days) is produced by Music Now Production
Company and features ten songs. The main highlight of the album is the duet
Hakim and Brown sang.– Albawaba.com
