A Celebration of Motherhood

National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment to honor Celebrity Moms at its International Leadership Summit in Chicago, IL

New York, NY(BlackNews.com) - Its a celebration of motherhood as the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME) honors the moms of pop culture, who have sacrificed, supported, protected and believed in the their children. Jonetta Patton (Usher), Cissy Houston (Whitney Houston), Carolyn London (Tyra Banks), Rita Owens (Queen Latifiah), Deloris Jordan (Michael Jordan), and Sonya Norwood (Brandy) will be recognized at NABFEMEs 2005 International Leadership Summit Mentor Power Luncheon in Chicago for their outstanding achievements in raising and managing icons of the music, movie and modeling industry. The Luncheon themed A Celebration of The Celebrity Mom, will be held Friday, August 19, 2005, at noon, inside of the Renaissance Chicago Hotel.

"Being a mother is so much more than giving birth. It takes all of your time, energy, wit and strength, not to mention the wisdom and grace of God to make sure that child succeeds, said Johnnie Walker," founder and president of NABFEME. "The celebrity mom is the exception to the rule as her level of strength, compassion and understanding is parallel to none. This is why we honor these mothers because they have triumphed in the spotlight and at home."

In addition to the luncheon, the five-day summit will take place August 17 21, featuring informative panels on career, money and relationship management; powerhouse networking sessions and live entertainment. General registration is $395 for members, $495 for non-members and $250 for students. Walk-up registration is $500 for members, $600 for non-members and $275 for students. Since its inception, NABFEME has recognized the achievements and contributions of African-American women in the world of entertainment. Founded by music industry trailblazer Johnnie Walker, the nonprofit organization supports and empowers black female professionals at all levels in the music and entertainment industry.
