'Primetime' Leads ABC to Wednesday Win

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it) - Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002
An interview with singer Whitney Houston on a "Primetime" special Wednesday
night helped ABC win the ratings for the evening.
ABC averaged a 9.0 rating/14 share for the night, edging second-place NBC, 8.8/14. CBS was
third at 6.3/10, followed by FOX, 4.6/7. In the metered markets, The WB averaged 3.6/5 and
and UPN 2.4/3.
Among adults 18-49, ABC averaged a 5.7 rating, NBC 4.2, FOX 3.4 and CBS 3.3.
NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" special, 7.9/13, led the way at 8 p.m.
ABC was second with "My Wife and Kids," 8.0/13, and "George Lopez,"
7.2/11. CBS' "60 Minutes II" finished third. FOX was fourth with "The
Bernie Mac Show" and "Cedric the Entertainer Presents," which averaged
5.0/8. The WB's "Return to Middle Earth" special, about the "Lord of the
Rings" movies, averaged 4.5/7, while a rerun of "Enterprise" on UPN was
sixth.
At 9 p.m., the "Primetime" interview with Houston averaged 13.8/21, making it
the top-rated show of the night. NBC aired a repeat of "The West Wing," while
CBS was third with the first half of a two-hour "Amazing Race 3," 5.6/9. FOX's
"Fastlane" averaged 4.2/6. A rerun of "Birds of Prey" on The WB,
2.7/4, beat a "Twilight Zone" repeat on UPN, 1.9/3.
A "Law & Order" repeat on NBC posted an 11.1/18 to win the 10 p.m. hour. CBS
took second with a second hour of "The Amazing Race," 6.0/10. "MDs"
returned to ABC's schedule with a 5.5/8.
