wrong reasons... she's pouring with sweat If Whitney Hoston's comeback world tour were a boxing match, the referee would have stopped it by now. After a string of increasingly shambolic appearances across Europe, memories of the singer in her heyday as one of pop's most glamorous women are fading fast.. While fans have applauded her return after a highly publicised battle against drug addiction, they have also been subjected to some erratic performances. The latest of these was on Tuesday night in Rome, which saw the 46-year-old in bloated and bedraggled form. Miss Houston squeezed into tight-fitting leather trousers and a black sequined jacket for the concert. But the bright-stage lighting merely illuminated the sweat dripping down from the star’s face. It was a far cry from the like the serene, svelte picture of the star - dressed in a slinky glittering gown - that had been used in promotional posters for the tour, called Nothing But Love. Her unsightly appearance also came just
days after unflattering images appeared showing Miss Houston singing at a
private party in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the South of France. Her subsequent appearances in Birmingham and London - her first concert in the capital since 1999 - were heavily criticised with some fans demanding their money back. Similar problems had beset the Australian and Asian legs of the tour in February when she also came under fire for forgetting the words to her songs. |
