NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--May 20, 1999--The Whitney Houston World Tour '99 has added seven shows and another city to its U.S. leg. The tour will kick off in Chicago, Illinois on June 22, 1999 and continue through August 1st. With the addition of Cleveland, Ohio, it now encompasses a total of 16 cities. Second engagements have been added in many markets, including Chicago, Detroit, Boston, New York, Atlanta and St. Louis. Tickets begin to go on sale Saturday, May 22nd. "It is very exciting for an incredible performer like Whitney to be doing her first tour in five years," says national tour promoter John Scher, CEO of Metropolitan Entertainment. "We are looking for the perfect settings to provide an intimate, special atmosphere." Houston agrees: "I've turned down a lot of arena dates because I've done the big-arena thing. Now I want to do something where people can feel me and I can feel them. This show is going to have a jam-session kind of feel." Houston will be performing new songs from her latest album, My Love Is Your Love, as well as many of her classic hits. My Love Is Your Love has already been certified 5X Platinum worldwide.
