[PR Inside Report] Whitney Houston Eyes Comeback R&B star WHITNEY HOUSTON is planning a spectacular comeback with an album of new material in early 2007. The singer - who last week (begs11SEP06) split from husband BOBBY BROWN - has endured a torrid time since her last LP, ONE WISH: THE HOLIDAY ALBUM, hit stores in 2003. She and Brown have both battled drug addiction and spent time in rehab. But Houston is conspiring with music mogul CLIVE DAVIS to make a comeback, and may even perform live at Davis' famous Grammy Awards party next year (07). Davis tells PageSix.com, "We are reviewing material right now. It is too early to say if Whitney is going to perform, but I would hope she would be in the running. "She looks radiant and is clearly together. "She is talking enthusiastically and is articulate. We are going to make a great album. In my opinion, the best singers in the world are ARETHA (FRANKLIN) and Whitney. That's not to knock MARIAH (CAREY). Mariah is a friend of mine, but I think Mariah would even say those two are the best."
This Post Chronicle report suggest Bobby Brown has expressed sadness at Whitney Houston's decision to file for divorce.

[From AOL Black Voices] Whilst being interviewed to self promote, Wendy Williams had this to say about Whitney Houston: On Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown: "I don't know whether they're going to split, but I think what they need is a divorce. There's too much hurtful water under the bridge. You know what I am saying? It's one thing to have an addiction, and God only knows I know, but to have a man to promise 'til death do us part,' and doesn't appear to have done anything to help his wife. In the true sense of marriage, he's supposed to drop everything and be right there with her. And yet, as legend has it, he was right there with her getting high. They should be going through this healing together. I say that with no laughter! I don't want to talk about that Whitney Houston interview I had with her or anything like that, because my heart is speaking to you right now. As a woman caught up in that matrix for 10 years, I am over it! Yeah, I love Bobby in my own way and Bobby has been a guest on my radio show and Bobby hosted my Dons & Divas [party], but Bobby ain't no good! He's no good. And now supposedly he's moved in with [Karrine] "Superhead" [Steffans]. People think that I enjoy tearing Whitney down. That I enjoy making fun of her. Yes, it does benefit my ratings on the radio, but I am also a human being. There's nothing funny about what's going on with Whitney. There's something very disgusting about Bobby's behavior in not helping his wife through this. Either you get a divorce so we all understand that you're free to do what you want and move in with "Superhead," or you get by your wife's side. I understand what goes on with a couple is private, but this is not going on just as a couple. They have a daughter now who is virtually who I am talking to with this Hangtags for Humanity campaign."

[MTV News Report] J Records honcho Clive Davis promises that a new album from Whitney Houston is in the works, explaining that they're currently working on songs together and have already picked out six that she'll record. But don't expect Whitney to change the way she works or her creative style for her comeback album — she won't be writing, and she won't be doing anything that her producers say could be musically groundbreaking. "Whitney doesn't write," Davis said. "It's a gift — you either got it or you don't. I've seen more artists lose a career over trying to do that. Ella Fitzgerald didn't write. Lena Horne didn't write. Whitney is Whitney, and there ain't nobody like her. It'll be Whitney. It won't be somebody reaching for a current trend, that's for sure." Davis said they'll be heading to the studio in a few weeks.
