[From Liz Smith's Syndicated Column/New York Newsday] Houston, We've Got No Problem THERE ISN'T MUCH in popular culture, or what I see on TV, that moves me in a positive way. But Whitney Houston at Wednesday night's "World Music Awards" was breathtaking. She looked like a goddess. She moved like a goddess, and when she opened her mouth to sing "I Believe in You" and "I Will Always Love You," she was the Whitney of old, with perhaps more poignancy. She seems to have more grace, as well as a palpable gratitude for having survived her travails and being able to stand there at all. (Whitney's classy appearance was followed by Anna Nicole Smith making a presentation. Courtney Love also was at this show. Let's try to imagine a conversation between Smith and Love!)

[From Chicago Sun Times] ON "ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT" this evening, anchor Mark Steines interviews embattled diva Whitney Houston and legendary record producing mogul Clive Davis, who is credited with making her a superstar in the music world. They talked about how they will be collaborating again on an upcoming album. Whitney refused to give any details about the new project, but asked that it not be called a "comeback." "I decided to take my time and live my life and raise my daughter. So, to my family, I've never gone anywhere," she tells ET. Whitney dedicated a song to her mentor Davis at the World Music Awards in Vegas on Wednesday. Insiders say it was Clive who encouraged -- or forced -- Whitney to go into a rehab program to clean up her act. "Is Whitney independent? Does she have a strong will? Does she have her own personality? Without question," Davis says. "We've always had an unbelievable chemistry." [From 'Stella's Column']

[From Liz Smith's Syndicated Column/New York Newsday] FLASH! TOGETHER AGAIN! I do mean producer supreme Clive Davis and his most glittering discovery, Whitney Houston. Tonight in Las Vegas, where Clive accepts an honor at The World Music Awards, he and Houston are set to announce that they will work on a new album - their first in five years. This is fantastic. The original Clive-Whitney combo has gone down in the music-biz history books of unprecedented sales, hits, airplay. May they never part.
